The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome its newest face and team member. Jessica Mikasa has recently been brought on to fill the role of Executive Assistant to President and CEO Ted Owen.
In addition to her administrative duties, Jessica will also be assisting chamber staff and several of the Chamber's committees in accomplishing various goals and tasks. For example, Jessica will take over as staff liaison to the Chamber's Education Committee, which works to strengthen and develop the relationship that exists between the Carlsbad's businesses and academic communities.
In the fall of 2000, Jessica moved to San Diego from Seattle to attend the University of San Diego. During her time at USD, Jessica maintained a full course-load and part-time job in event planning with the Joan B. Kroc Institute of Peace and Justice.
During the spring semester of her junior year, Jessica was presented with a unique opportunity that allowed her to work as a member of the White House Press Corps, while simultaneously continuing her studies through a satellite program offered through the University. Jessica graduated from USD in May, 2004, having completed her major in Political Science with an emphasis on mass media communications.
Jessica briefly relocated back to Seattle following her graduation. While there, she worked for the global public relations agency, MWW Group. Jessica returned to San Diego in the fall after accepting a position with local state legislator, Assemblyman Mark Wyland, where she served as a Field Representative and Media Relations Coordinator.
