Coolest Shoes in California opens retail store
After three years of selling its lightweight, ventilated, European sneaker-like shoes called "Glaglas" at street fairs, boat shows, and health expos, as well as from their showroom/warehouse in Carlsbad, the Coolest Shoes in California has gone retail and moved into a boutique at 2984 State Street in the heart of the Carlsbad Village.
"With a growing customer base and greater local demand for our shoes, we felt that the timing was right to make the move to retail and make the buying process easier for our customers," said owner Christine Davis. "Living in Carlsbad for the past 25 years, my husband and I knew we wanted to make our move to the village and become an even bigger part of the local community."
With the new retail store came additional shoe lines, including a lightweight but more upscale casual shoe for women by Bernie Mev; a lightweight, ventilated beach shoe and a crossover golf shoe for men by Dawgs; and the five-toe sandal called the Yogini by Carlsbad-based ToeSox.
"Our whole focus is on lightweight and comfortable shoes," Davis said. "Currently our heaviest shoe weighs in at just eight ounces."
Later this year, they will be expanding their ToeSox sandal line and in February 2012 adding a brand new line of lightweight shoes from another Carlsbad-based shoe company, in addition to adding five more Glagla styles.
