Get out your lederhosen. The Carlsbad Rotary Oktoberfest, which has become an annual fall tradition of feasting and fun, will be held Saturday, October 7, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Holiday Park on the corner of Pio Pico and Chestnut Avenue.

The annual family festival, with German food, oom-pah-pah music, and a variety of entertainment for children, is organized by the Rotary Club of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club to raise funds for North County charities and organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad and the Women’s Resource Center. More than $500,000 has been raised since Oktoberfest started 23 years ago.

The Pacific Coast Community Band will entertain from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; the Pacific Coast Combo from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and the German band, Roger and the Villages, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Of course, the chicken dance will be featured many times throughout the day.

A traditional German meal will be served until 8 p.m. Tickets are $10, and they may be purchased at the park or in advance at the following locations:
