A lot of what we do at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is about getting people together. We host breakfast meetings, Sundowners, workshops, counseling sessions, roundtables and many other programs designed to help educate business owners and promote their companies.
Here are a few recent examples of members benefiting from our programs:

Fraser Cosh, Business Specialist with Wells Fargo Bank in Carlsbad, has been attending the Financing Workshop and chamber events for a few months. Since his attendance, Cosh has successfully secured a new business account and is processing an SBA loan.

Philip Bierman, attorney, a new member who attended the New Member Reception and initiated a consultation with staff. He joined the Business Resource Committee and used the Chamber Directory to hire his accountant. Philip is already taking advantage of the chamber's vast network.

Laura Harvey, founded Pacific Marketing Solutions. She joined the chamber and immediately became very involved. Harvey attended our Small Business Roundtable and our Networking to Netweaving workshop and used her skills to land a new client at the New Member Reception.

Jim Kinslowe, a receivables financing banker with First Bank, joined the chamber just three months ago and got involved in events and the Business Resource Committee after meeting with staff in the Small Business Success Center. He tells everyone he meets, "I'm here to build relationships, I'm not just looking for business." At the last First Friday Breakfast, he received three solid leads from chamber members at his table, the first of which came from another banker and he will close the deal this month. Kinslowe believes in the "Netweaving" concept of gathering contacts and forming relationships. He has referred many people to other members in the chamber and he is often organizing introductory meetings.

In addition to individual successes, we are counseling many business people each month to help them get started or promote their business. Since the Small Business Success Center opened in April, we have worked with hundreds of business people. Below you will find the chamber's approximate monthly attendance:

*Counseling with staff, members and with SCORE, approximately 40 people per month
*Chamber hosted workshops and roundtable sessions, approximately 50 people per month
*Facilitated business loans, 1-2 people per month.
*Assistance with referrals, contacts and resources, dozens of people per month
