Recently the Carlsbad Chamber sent out a survey to our members with 12 questions. Why? We want to know how to better serve our members. This year our goal is to go from “good” to “GREAT.” The old saying is “If you don't ask, you don't get,” so we are asking.
We asked “What is your satisfaction with the benefits provided by the Chamber?” The survey said that more than 68 percent of our members think that we do an excellent job with member services: business education, promotion and networking opportunities. Our goal in 2012 is to have more than 90 percent.
We asked “How likely are you to recommend to another business to join the Carlsbad Chamber?” The survey said that 51 percent were extremely likely, and 34 percent were likely to do so.
We asked “What role do you believe the Chamber plays in influencing the direction and future of Carlsbad by bringing business and community together?” The survey said that 70 percent believe we have a Strong Influence and Leadership Role in our community..
The most important question that we asked was “Do you think you get your money's worth from your membership?” 90 percent of you said “Yes!” So then we asked “Why?” Out of the hundreds of responses here are some of the highlights. Please note these have not been edited.
• “It's a great organization that represents the city, its businesses and citizens as well.”
• “Carlsbad Chamber is the best I have ever worked with.”
• “For the most part the Chamber gives me an outlet for meeting new people regularly and introducing my business to them. I do find the educational classes and topics very apropos and interesting to me.”
• “I consider the Chamber a 'library' or a fantastic source to answer questions for the community. I use the Web site search button all the time for marketing ideas.”
• “Because you bring all the right stakeholders together to improve collaboration of services of the business and the community.”
• “The Carlsbad Chamber is very active in all areas of concern-membership, community, and Chamber participation, public policies, business development, etc. It is also welcoming to business members and offers many ways to participate in Chamber areas of interest or importance.”
• While my company is large, I'm a one-person office in Carlsbad. Getting out and meeting other like-minded professionals has been fun AND educational for me. I think the Carlsbad Chamber has done a good job of laying the foundation. Now it's up to me to participate as often as I can.
• “Part of your reputation is with whom you keep company. The Carlsbad Chamber is a very well-run business organization. Your events are very professional and you have a great reputation. For those reasons, and despite my not being as active a member as I would like to be, I maintain respect and membership with you. When I do join in on an event, I know it will be done. I also notice, but have not attended, that your education events are of great content and you are continually finding ways to grow the business community. Great job to all of you!”
We want to thank everyone who responded to our survey and you will be helping us move from “Good to “GREAT!”
