Is your business up to par or are you feeling stuck in a sand trap? Let the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce help you with your handicap.
Attend the 2008 Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament, which will take place Aug. 4 at The Crossings at Carlsbad, located off of Palomar Airport Road at 5800 The Crossings Drive.
“This is a great opportunity for golf enthusiasts to enjoy a day in the sun while raising money for two local charities,” said Lisa Manemann, the chamber's director of special events. “Participants will love the unique course and its breathtaking views of the ocean.”
The scramble format tournament will include a $1 million hole-in-one shootout and various other contests, including longest drive, putting and straightest drive competitions. The event also will include opportunity drawings, a live and silent auction, top of the line tee prizes and goody bags from prestigious Southern California companies.
A box lunch will be provided. The annual tournament will be followed by an awards banquet that will include a gourmet dinner prepared by the golf course's restaurant.
Space is limited. Last year's Opening Golf Tournament at The Crossings at Carlsbad sold out before the ink could dry on the advertising materials, so those who want to participate are encouraged to register right away.
Suzanne Audiss, president of The Audiss Group LCC/Sandler Training, received a TaylorMade driver for winning the longest drive contest during last year's tournament. Her foursome, which included three of her clients, also won the overall tournament.
“It's a great opportunity to thank your clients for their business, as well as to spend some time with them,” Audiss said.
Business, foursome and individual golf packages, as well as tee, hole and other sponsorships, are still available. The packages include use of the course's golf carts, each of which are equipped with a global positioning system.
The charity tournament will benefit two local nonprofit organizations. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the chamber's Partners in Education Foundation, which supports Carlsbad public schools, and Military Outreach Ministry Camp Pendleton, which distributes food and provides furniture and other household items to qualified service members in need.
The event is presented by NRG West, Cabrillo Power. The other sponsors include Poseidon Resources, Tri-City Medical Center, Villages of La Costa, Grand Pacific Resorts, Image One Graphics, Office Depot and San Dieguito Trophy.
For more information about the tournament, registration or sponsorships, call Lisa Manemann at (760) 931-8400 or visit www.carlsbad.org.
