The Business Resource Committee makes networking enjoyable
On the first Friday of every month, with the exception of January and July, approximately 150 people get together at Windmill Banquet and Catering on Palomar Airport Road for breakfast, networking and informative guest speakers under the auspices of the Business Resource Committee (BRC) of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. This monthly gathering is only one of the many networking opportunities created by the BRC, a committee on a mission to connect local business professionals.
The members of the Business Resource Committee, including Chair Lee Sterling of Help-U-Sell Realty West and Co-Chair Pamela Gort of EDGE Consulting Group, work on that mission in meetings at the Chamber of Commerce on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 a.m. The BRC is also involved in a number of other networking opportunities, including two monthly Table for Eight luncheons which give Chamber members the opportunity to get to know seven other members on a much more personal level.
At the First Friday Breakfast, the networking possibilities are endless. Attendees are invited to pass out their business cards, and talk about their business activities with their tablemates during a structured networking time during the breakfast. Both before and after the formal breakfast meeting, which always includes a featured speaker carefully chosen by the BRC, other networking opportunities are available through sponsored and paid Tabletop Exhibits. These exhibits allow you to feature products or services in a 30-second commercial. You can also purchase Soapbox Presentations that give you the opportunity to describe your business for 3 minutes to the breakfast group. Don't miss out on the free Corner Clubs where you will meet other professionals after the breakfast finishes. The Grab Bag Lunch gives you a way to meet someone on a one-on-one basis by dropping your card into a basket and picking out a card to plan a Dutch lunch.
The Committee is always brainstorming new ways to bring Chamber members together. Plans are underway to unveil the Mad Minute Card Exchange, you'll have to be there to see it in action. If you want to have fun, and learn how to increase your business by networking, join the Business Resource Committee at one of its future networking events. The next First Friday Breakfast takes place August 5.
