What are the trends in health care and how is Tri-City addressing them?
My primary objectives since I came to Tri-City have been to focus on:
1. Helping patients get well close to home.
2. Getting our community quick access to primary care physicians.
3. Building our relationship with the community we serve through community organization presentations and sponsorship of events.
4. Developing and executing a redevelopment plan for the hospital.
Patient care is and always will be our primary focus and everything we do will be centered around ensuring we keep patient care at the top of our minds where they can get excellent care close to their homes. We have embraced new and innovative processes throughout the hospital where we all are held accountable in our respective areas of responsibility. These processes insure that we consistently focus on improving our communication and relationships with our patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.
We continually promote the value of the healthcare services we offer to our community and we consistently work on new delivery models that improve our patient care and well-being.
We are working diligently to increase our primary care base by recruiting new physicians to our health care district. We opened our first primary care clinic this past January with four highly respected and recognized physicians. This is our first venture into expanding our primary care network so our community will have acceptable access to our primary care network.
We will also look for other key strategic areas for Tri-City Medical Center to collaborate to insure our community is able to get their healthcare close to home.
What is the future of Tri-City Medical Center?
Our redevelopment plan will include: improving the patient experience in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and our OB area; building a new parking structure to provide ample parking for our guests; meeting our seismic requirements by 2030 and rebuilding our emergency department which is the third busiest in San Diego County, seeing more than 75,000 patients every year. We want a modern state of the art design that allows us to take care of our patients in a dignified and efficient manner. This redevelopment plan will insure our ability to consistently serve the needs of our community.
Tri-City Medical Center has served its community for over 50 years. It offers a full-service, acute-care hospital in Oceanside, with a primary care clinic and over 500 physicians practicing in 60 specialties. Its Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission recognizes its commitment to safe and effective patient care. It operates the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in North County as well as an Orthopaedic & Spine Institute, Cardiovascular Health Institute and a Neurological Institute along with the Tri-City Wellness Center in Carlsbad, recognized as one of the best wellness centers in San Diego County.
It also specializes in women's health, robotic surgery, cancer and emergency care. Selected from over 5700 hospitals, Tri-City medical Center has been recognized as an innovator in medical treatments, research, technology and care delivery as well as an anchor of health in the country.
