In an effort to help new businesses, and perhaps existing businesses, in the Carlsbad Village area navigate through the various regulations for starting or expanding a business and locating needed business resources, the city's Housing and Redevelopment Department has created a Village Business Resource Guide.
It is available on the city's Web site at www.carlsbadca.gov/redevelopment/resources.html. The guide provides information on business strategies for the Village, redevelopment in general, business resources, signage regulations, parking resources, transportation, important contact information and interesting facts about Carlsbad. It also provides the top 10 reasons for locating your business in the Village.
The following are just three of those reasons:
• The Village is a prominent employment center. It is estimated that there are 1,700 full-time employees in the Village. People who work downtown do a substantial amount of their shopping for goods and services within the Village, and these employees are in the area year round.
• The Village is an indispensible shopping and service center. Although it may not be the most dominant shopping center in Carlsbad, the Village includes unique shopping and service opportunities. Attorneys, physicians, accountants and insurance offices, as well as financial institutions, are located downtown. The retail climate also represents some of the most unique products. The Village is set apart from its competitors through its uniqueness.
• The Village is a major tourist draw. When people travel, they want to see unique places like the Village. Visitors give the area high scores for its attractiveness, cleanliness, safety and charm represented by the local businesses.
Check out the Web site noted above for the remaining seven reasons to locate your business in the Village and for additional helpful information. The staff in the Housing and Redevelopment Department is eager to help in the development of new businesses within the area.
