The Carlsbad Convention & Visitors Bureau's web site will be the first in San Diego County to feature a mapping system developed by The Map Network (TMN). Getting around town will become easier than ever by using the bureau's new interactive on-line map. The new computerized map is designed to assist visitors and residents find everything from accommodations, transportation, attractions, dining, shopping and outdoor activities all presented in one complete innovative package.

Leisure and business travelers looking for an easy way to plan a trip to Carlsbad will be able to customize their own itineraries with the interactive map and the information contained on the bureau's website, visitcarlsbad.com. The bureau expects to premier the map early this month.

TMN with its proprietary MAPSIT? system is the first to focus exclusively on destination marketing and events. The bureau has worked closely with TMN to design the look and to customize the information that will appear for each location or Point of Interest (POI). All hotels and motels will have full descriptions, web site links and contact information. Businesses that participate in the bureau's new "Special Offers" Program will automatically be included on the map.

TMN currently serves as the Official Map of the Destination Marketing Association International and more than 80 convention and visitors bureaus. TMN is also the Official Map of such leading associations for meeting planners as IAEM, ASAE and MPI. More than 200 events have used TMN’s custom map-guides, including more than 25 of the Tradeshow Week Top 200 trade shows, both Republican and Democratic National Conventions in 2004, World War II Memorial Dedication, Presidents Cup, Marine Corps Marathon and Super Bowl XL.

A visit to mapnetwork.com offers an entertaining virtual tour of the technology offered by TMN and a map demonstration. Businesses that are interested in more information should contact Frankie Laney, Public Relations Director for the bureau at (760) 434-6093.
