This year will mark the third annual Steps to Recovery event Oct. 13. This one-of-a-kind event is special and unlike any other walk for raising money and awareness.
What makes this walk so unique and special, is that the only participants are Project Walk clients – people with a spinal cord injury (SCI). These individuals have succeeded against all odds and now want to give something back. To do so, they will be walking to raise awareness of SCI and the perception of recovery. By walking, they will help change the perception that someone with this injury cannot recover. At the same time, they will help raise money so others less fortunate can come from around the world and be able to participate in the same program that allowed them to succeed. The goal of this event is very simply to create awareness with the goal of changing the perception about SCI.
Project Walk needs all your support to continue its mission of recovery. Stop by on Oct. 13and watch these amazing individuals take step after step in front of their families and friends. Some stepping for the first time ever, while others will be increasing the distance they walked in previous year's events. Your support of these amazing people will not only celebrate their success it will help pave the way for others to achieve the same accomplishments.
There will be a food and drinks, a live band, silent auction and a special video presentation starring our clients on their road to recovery. Specialists will also be giving tours of the center and answering any questions on the program. All proceeds of the event will support the purchase of a new gait trainer that would cost the organization $65,000.
