Palomar Airport fixed-based operation (FBO) Premier Jet is well-named. The company has recognized the premier location of the Carlsbad airport, officially named McClellan-Palomar Airport, and is currently undertaking a massive $33 million development to modernize the airport.

“McClellan-Palomar Airport is the gateway to North County San Diego,” said Richard Sax, president of Premier Jet. “This airport is ideally located to serve this growing region's general aviation community, corporate aircraft and commercial services.”

Sax, as well as many county leaders and other FBOs at Palomar Airport, point to the explosion in North County's population and business muscle over the past decade. The airport, they say, needs this renovation to provide the growing North County region with the transportation services it deserves.

“This project is long overdue,” said Sax. “It is crucial to the growing business community, to aviation enthusiasts and to the people of North County.”

Premier Jet's business plan is unique, and the development the company is undertaking will benefit its current lease-holders and the new customers it has already signed or is pursuing.

Current hangar lease-holders will see their hangar space upgraded significantly. Nineteen prime, state-of-the-art hangars, many of them facing the airport's runway, will be available in sizes ranging from 3,000 to 15,000 square feet.

In addition to the new hangars, the upgraded site will feature in excess of 50,000 square feet of office space, with spaces starting at 1,500 square feet. Combined, the offices and hangars account for more than 200,000 square feet of new space.

The company will also have 28 plane tie-downs for smaller fixed-wing aircraft. Coupled with the County of San Diego's improvement of the north side of the main runway, Palomar Airport will soon be able to accommodate in excess of 100 aircraft tie-downs.

The firm is offering companies and individuals the opportunity to be part of a pre-paid 30-year lease program that includes the private hangars and class-A office space, all resting on prime runway frontage at Palomar Airport. In addition, private hangars and offices are set aside for transient guests.

“The first benefit of the long-term lease is the privacy, security and convenience it affords,” said Sax. “Lease holders often see their aircraft sitting on a tarmac when it should be hangared. With this unique long-term lease, you'll know you'll always have access to your own private hangar.”

Another, perhaps more important, advantage of the pre-paid lease is cost.

“The pre-paid lease program allows tenants to be insulated from ever-spiraling rental charges while still giving them most of the advantages of full ownership,” Sax said.
