As we enter March and spring emerges, it’s a great time to recognize Women’s History Month. This is a time to explore and honor the w o m e n who have helped make an impact on our lives and community. It is important to note that many women in the world still live in an oppressed state, unable to utilize many of the freedoms the people in our community have as rights. We bring awareness to these areas in order to improve the ability for those to breakthrough and in turn make an impact on others.

Locally, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce awarded a prominent leader, Mia Roseberry and the Wounded Warrior Homes, with the People’s Choice CBAD Award. In a recent interview Roseberry stated “we do what we do for veterans”. For me, this sticks out as a selfless act of putting others first. Their program provides transitional housing for those military members needing assistance with reintegrating in the community after service to the country. Many of these veterans are dealing with PTSD, TBI, and others challenges. “Stable housing can do amazing things” says Roseberry. Being a leader in the community and working to improve the quality of life of others is something we all strive for. Congratulations to Wounded Warrior Homes- and thank you!

Women inspire others to bring new elements of perspective, techniques, and ideas. It is incredible to see a shift in the number of women involved in business today. Emerging from a once male dominated area women have now become the ones trailblazing and shaping industries. After attending a recent lecture by Gina Davis, I learned that much of this emergence comes from the ability of women to be shown in TV and movie roles as those leading the charge that creates a space for the current leaders to show our future professionals that women can do anything they put their minds to.

Success in business comes from creativity. Much of the recent creativity comes from a once quiet part of our society, women. An injection of talent from this group of people will help us to rise to our next challenges, overcome adversity and provide a balance of what is best for our community. We chose to celebrate women of history, culture, and society.
