Ann and David Kulchin to Serve As Honorary Chairs for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Annual Gala

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad have named volunteer and advocates, Ann and David Kulchin, as Honorary Chairs of the clubs 33rd Annual “The Greatest Club on Earch!” Gala. Dave Kulchin has been on the Club’s Board of Directors since June 1999 and has also served as Board President. Along with his wife Ann Kulchin, former Carlsbad Councilmember and Mayor pro-tem, they helped raise nearly $1.2 million to build the Boys & Girls Club branch in Bressi Ranch. The new Clubhouse is state of the art and opened in 2011. “I feel the purpose of life is to be useful, compassionate, and make a difference in the lives of others,” says David. David hasn’t only spent time with the Boys & Girls Club, he has helped serve other non profits such as Scripps Memorial Hospital, Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary, Hospice of the North Coast, and the Encinitas YMCA. David has also served on the board of the Leucadia Wastewater District since 1996. David isn’t the only successful person in the marriage. Ann Kulchin served on the city council for 32 years. Ann stepped down from her position in December 2012. “They say the time to go is when people don’t want you to go,” recalls Ann. “I am being hugged by strangers telling me I’ve done a good job.” “We are so pleased to honor this couple who have given so much of themselves not only to the Boys & Girls Club, but to the Carlsbad community,” said Gala Co-Chairs Barbi Nelson and Viola Wheelihan. “This recognition has been a long time in the making, and is way overdue!” The “Greatest Club on Earth!” Gala will take place at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa on Saturday, October 25, at 6:00 pm.
