City of Carlsbad and ViaSat Inc.  partnered on a video to highlight Carlsbad as the ideal location, both personally and professionally.  ViaSat, an industry leader and innovator in satellite and other wireless networking systems and services provided exclusive access to its employees and world headquarters for the film coverage by the City of Carlsbad.  ViaSat began in Carlsbad in 1986 with under $25,000 in capital. CEO Mark Dankberg, working alongside co-founders Mark Miller and Steve Hart, started ViaSat in a spare bedroom in Mr. Dankberg’s house. Today, ViaSat has grown to more than 3,300 highly skilled professionals and $1.3 billion in annual revenue.

The video features the extraordinary quality of life the employees at ViaSat enjoy as well as the company’s continued innovation and growth within the community. From satellites blasting off into space to workers learning and growing in their expertise, ViaSat fosters an environment that acknowledges how each employee’s work matters on a global scale, and conversely, that there is more to it than work.

“We started out small and really didn’t think about being as big as we are,” said Mr. Dankberg. “But Carlsbad has proven to be a great environment to attract talent, and build the team and company we have today.”
