The following are two recent news stories in the UT San Diego that feature members of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce: UT San Diego’s Dining and Drinking section featured a story about how Chef de Cuisine Greg Frey of BlueFire Bar & Grill is harvesting honey from 10,000 honeybees to use for his culinary creation and for spa treatments at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. An excerpt from the story:
Although many local restaurants tout their “farm to table” cuisine, the 33-year-old Rancho Bernardo resident said he didn’t start the beekeeping operation for freshness or quality control reasons. He did it as part of the resort’s sustainability efforts. Bee populations are in decline worldwide and Frey wants to create an awareness program with guests, employees and the Carlsbad community to help bring the vanishing species back from the brink.”
Another story was an article featuring Carlsbad Christmas Bureau Adopt-a-Family Project and their effort to encourage donations for the less fortunate. Here’s an excerpt from the story:
Now is the time for giving and spreading Christmas cheer. The Carlsbad Christmas Bureau Adopt-a-Family Project invites the public to help less fortunate Carlsbad families through its holiday gift and food assistance program.

Businesses, organizations, schools and individuals alike are encouraged to sign up to adopt local families in need.”
