The community is invited to Celebrate Carlsbad May 3, 2008 at LEGOLAND California for the discounted price of $15.
Those who want to Celebrate Carlsbad must purchase tickets in advance through special designated sites, including the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce office located at 5934 Priestly Drive. LEGOLAND will donate the majority of each specially priced ticket to the Carlsbad Educational Foundation.
This year, the annual Kids Are Worth A Million telethon, which benefits the foundation, is moving to the theme park. The fundraiser was traditionally held at the Carlsbad High School gym as a live call-in telethon each March, but this year it will be taped before a live audience from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during Celebrate Carlsbad Day at LEGOLAND.
The telethon will feature every school in the Carlsbad Unified School District, students will perform and principals will highlight excellent programs and teachers. The foundation has set a goal to raise $80,000 in pre-sale tickets for the day.
“We are very grateful to LEGOLAND California. This premier family venue has embraced our efforts to raise much needed funds for Carlsbad’s schools to offset recent state budget cuts,” said Lisa Posard, president-elect of the foundation.
The foundation has contributed more than $3 million to Carlsbad Unified classrooms for science, technology, arts and reading.
Tickets for Celebrate Carlsbad also are available at Carlsbad Unified schools and the foundation office. To buy tickets or for more information, call (760) 929-1555 or visit www.KidsAreWorthAMillion.com.
