The City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce came together to host a delegation from China eager to learn about the City’s economy. The 15-member delegation from China’s Yunnan province (located in the southern part of the country) was interested in meeting with the city’s Economic Development Department and the Chamber of Commerce to learn about the city’s policies and regulations and what the city has done to stimulate the local economy. The majority of the delegation members were government workers in human resources.Small group The delegation, which was brought to Carlsbad by the Triway International Group, heard from Carlsbad’s Economic Development Manager Christina Vincent. “The visit went well,” Vincent said. “They were interested in learning about our organizational structure within the City and how we work with our business community … They were excited to learn about the variety of programs in Carlsbad, specifically our talent attraction brand ‘Carlsbad. Life in Action.'” Ted Owen, president and CEO of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce welcomed the delegation to the Chamber and Bev Jorgensen, vice president of member and corporate relations made a presentation of the Chamber’s five core competencies and how they relate to economic development. “The great partnership between the City of Carlsbad and the business community is one of the things that make Carlsbad the great city that it is today,” Owen said. “We’re always glad to share our success stories with the outside world.”
