Joint Communication to Carlsbad Businesses

The City of Carlsbad, Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, and Carlsbad Village Association work in partnership to support a thriving local economy. One of our goals is to keep our businesses up to date with important information. The following may be relevant
to you and your business.

Updates to Statewide Mask Mandate
According to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the County of San Diego, on Tuesday, February 15, the statewide mask mandate, which stipulates that masks must be worn indoors by all persons, regardless of vaccination status, will end.

Beginning February 16, the CDPH guidance for the use of face masks will require masks to be worn only in specified settings, which include:

• Public transit
• Indoors in K-12 schools & childcare settings
• Emergency shelters and cooling & heating centers
• State and local correctional facilities & detention centers
• Homeless shelters
• Long term care settings and adult & senior care facilities

Masks will still be required for unvaccinated persons in all indoor public settings and businesses. Fully vaccinated individuals are recommended to continue indoor masking when the risk may be high.

In workplaces, employers are subject to the Cal/OSHA COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS) or in some workplaces the Cal/OSHA Aerosol Transmissible Diseases (ATD) standard and should consult those regulations for additional applicable requirements.

The updated guidance for the use of masks can be found here.
