When Wendy and Steve Blumberg received mail from La Costa Glen retirement community, they hadn’t yet considered moving. With their curiosity piqued, they decided to visit and see the community for themselves.

After touring, the couple were so impressed that they turned to each other and agreed La Costa Glen was the community for them, for a lot of reasons.

Set on a beautiful 55-acre campus in coastal Carlsbad, just minutes from the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by 200 acres of open space, La Costa Glen offers a maintenance-free lifestyle that is enriching and convenient. As a Continuing Life® community, La Costa Glen is more than just a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). Residents enjoy numerous activities available every day, while also receiving the benefit of access to assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing at the adjacent health center, if ever needed.

“Doing it now was easy for us and it has relieved our four adult children of any worry about us forever,” says Steve.

Choice is the focus at La Costa Glen, and it starts with where residents live. Spacious and modern single-story villas and apartments offer a wide variety of floor plan designs. Residences are held to elevated standards, which could include updated cabinetry, quartz countertops, brushed nickel fixtures and updated closets with organization features. Once moved in, residents no longer have to worry about housecleaning and home maintenance because it’s all taken care of. Instead, they have more time to relax or entertain in a home suited to their lifestyle.

“This is the most comfortable, convenient, easy-to-live-in house we have ever lived in. We’re so pleased that we’ve made this decision,” says Steve.

More choice and convenience is offered through on-site services such as banking and scheduled transportation. Residents can get a ride to local area attractions, including the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, the world-famous Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, any of four championship golf courses and the beach, all located within minutes of the community.

“We love it. I was happy to get here even before I got here,” shares Wendy.

The choices continue when it comes to dining. Residents can cook when they want to in the fully equipped kitchens in their residences. They can choose from two restaurant-style venues at La Costa Glen, or opt for casual dining at two bistro options. Fresh ingredients and health-inspired recipes are featured on the unique menus that change daily. Guests and family members are welcome at any of the dining options on campus.

Living at La Costa Glen keeps residents connected to the best of Southern California, while enriching their lives with an active lifestyle. Residents can fill their days with two clubhouses, two fitness centers, tennis, swimming, golf, arts and crafts, performing arts and movies right on campus. They can also join in on the more than 400 parties thrown each year, and more than 250 activities and 75 clubs, committees and classes offered each month. Relieved of the burdens of homeownership, residents are free to choose whatever activities they enjoy.

“We think it’s the absolute best move we could’ve possibly made,” Steve explains.

One of the biggest benefits for residents is access to all levels of long-term care services offered at the adjacent health center. The Blumberg’s and their children feel more peace of mind knowing there’s a solid plan in place for the years ahead. “Both Wendy and I have a real feeling of gratefulness that we are now securely comfortable here for the rest of our lives,” explains Steve. “That’s the reality.
