(CARLSBAD, CA: February 15, 2022) – Just in time to celebrate the country’s most “Instagrammable” bloom, the city of Carlsbad celebrates its one-of-a-kind floral surroundings with a new visitor program, “Pedal 2 Petal by Visit Carlsbad.” The 8-week celebration of all things floral will take place from March 1 to May 8, 2022, and includes floral-inspired events and specials at venues across the city.Through this program visitors and locals can experience the floral magic of Carlsbad at The Flower Fields and beyond. Local shops and attractions, culinary and wellness experiences, chefs and mixologists, hotel partners and more have all teamed up to create a variety of floral imbued products, activities, bites and cocktails. Guests are invited to bike (pedal) around the great outdoor resort destination and experience different stops where they can enjoy flower-inspired offerings. By “pedaling to the petals,” visitors have the opportunity to celebrate all the wonderful ways the city celebrates spring.
“Carlsbad’s flower fields are such a beautiful and unique destination,” says Kim Sidoriak, President & CEO of Visit Carlsbad, “But there are so many wonderful experiences throughout Carlsbad, from the boutiques and shops to the fantastic restaurants, and we want visitors to get a taste of them all!”
To further enhance the program, effective mid-to-late March, visitors to the destination can “check-in” at participating experiences on the Pedal2Petal web app (available for download through the site). Those who check-in at a minimum of 3 experiences are entered into a grand prize drawing for a vacation experience in Carlsbad, including 3-nights’ accommodation, a $250 Food & Beverage credit, and a Beach Genie costal concierge set-up, amongst other perks. Inspired by the nearly fifty acres of rainbow-colored Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields, offerings perfect for families, friends or a romantic escape run the gamut from “Blooms & Bliss” hotel packages and floral scavenger hunts at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon to lavender lattes and hibiscus sours at restaurants around town. - The Cassara Carlsbad is offering a “Stay and See Flower Fields Package” that includes 2 tickets to The Flower Fields, an overnight stay at the Cassara Carlsbad overlooking 50 acres of Tecolote® Giant Ranunculus, waived parking and free shuttle to Carlsbad Premium Outlets, The Flower Fields and Carlsbad beaches. FAMILY FUN:
- Visit the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation Discovery Center and view native flowering plants in their extensive Native Plant Garden! Complete an informative and educational scavenger hunt on the grounds of the Discovery Center looking for native flora and discover the beauty of some of our flowering plants in bloom from March 1st – May 8th, 2022. Those who complete the scavenger hunt, receive 10% off a Pedal 2 Petal t-shirt. 9am – 4pm Monday – Saturday; Sunday Noon – 4pm. - Yoga Your Way will offer a Flower Power stand up paddleboard yoga class every Sunday from March 26- May 8th. Participants will be provided flower crowns and bouquets of flowers will be attached to the SUP boards. Fresh hibiscus tea will be served before and after class.
