Refresh, rebrand, reimagine

The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce has provided leadership and experience to the businesses and community of Carlsbad for over 100 years.  As a matter of fact, the phrase “Providing leadership and experience for the businesses and the community of Carlsbad” is boldly displayed on our wall as you walk into our lobby.  It is so boldly displayed on our wall that I don’t notice it anymore.  In fact, if you were to ask me what it says on our wall, I would have to go and look, because it has just become part of the landscape (I literally had to go take a picture of it with my phone just to type it out for this article).  Even though those words are true, their impact in our lobby has lost its punch and has become white noise to me and all our visitors (when I quizzed my Board members at a recent Board meeting, none of them could recite them from memory either).

So, it is time for a lobby refresh. Luckily, the wall that hosts these words is quite large.  This large landscape will make a beautiful canvas for our member and friend, Taylor Gallegos.  For those of you who do not know Taylor, he is a talented muralist here in Carlsbad. His company is called Taylor Gallegos Fine Art. He has created approximately 15 murals in Carlsbad Village.  And now, we have commissioned him to create a mural on the walls of our office lobby.

We are very excited about this project for many reasons.  Besides the fact that our current corporate theme is 24 years old and has become tired, we are excited to bring our lobby to life with all things Carlsbad.  If you have seen Taylor’s work, you know he is exceptionally gifted. We are going to create an overall Carlsbad vibe AND give you, our members, a chance to be highlighted.  Now, before you get too excited, this is a “pay-to-play” scenario. If you would like your company, your product, or your brand to be featured in our mural, we have three different levels to choose from: $1,750; $1,000; or $500.  The different prices relate to the size and detail of your company/product being featured in our lobby.

This is a once-in-a-decade opportunity as we are committing that this mural artwork will stay in our lobby for a minimum of 10 years. As I mentioned, the current lobby décor has been in place for 24 years, so you might get much more than 10 years for your investment, but we are guaranteeing at least that. The goal is to have all the investments committed by June 15 and have Taylor start painting after the 4th of July holiday.  We plan to host a big “reveal” happy hour celebration in mid to late July.  If you join us in this fun project, we will also be doing social media promotions, time-lapse videos, and more.
