Carlsbad Chamber Announces Rising Star of the Year
9 Carlsbad High School Seniors to be Awarded Scholarships.
Carlsbad, CA (May 13, 2022) – In September, 2021 the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce launched its third annual Rising Star of the Month Program. Each month during the school year four to five high school seniors are nominated from Carlsbad High Schools to be honored at the Rising Star Breakfast hosted at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce offices. Throughout the 2021-22 school year, 30 high school seniors were honored from 5 different high schools.
The Mission Statement of the Rising Star of the Month is to bring the community together to honor our local high school seniors for demonstrating character, integrity, love of learning, involvement in school and community activities and/or the ability to overcome challenging life circumstances without compromising their education. The core of the Rising Star of the Month is the student who makes a difference in their home, school & community with sincerity and passion.
On May 24, 2022, nine (9) $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to the following Rising Stars of the Year:
- Daniela Yakuta, Carlsbad High School
- Kailani Chung, Carlsbad High School
- Wendy Savalza, Carlsbad High School
- Rylie McLaren, Sage Creek High School
- Capri Suarez, Sage Creek High School
- Giselle Reyes, La Costa Canyon High School
- Ian West, La Costa Canyon High School
- Drake Snyder, Army and Navy Academy
- Laura Zhou, Pacific Ridge School
Rising Star of the Month Breakfast Sponsors are Carlsbad Educational Foundation and Nordson Corporation. The Rising Star of the Year Scholarship Sponsors are the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation, Phillips + Company Real Estate Group, Eshelman Appraisals, Inc., Tri-City Medical Center, Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation Discovery Center, Gregorio’s Restaurant, and an anonymous donor.
