Just 45 days ago, a proverbial light switch was flipped and Carlsbad Village as we knew it returned. Five days later summer officially arrived and there was no turning back.
The Carlsbad Village Association (CVA) programs dozens of events d o w n t o w n throughout the year, including its weekly certified organic farmers’ market. There’s almost always something to do or look forward to in the Village, and this season is no different. Here’s a quick snapshot of what is on the calendar downtown; we hope you, your family, and friends will join us just two blocks from the beach in the heart of Carlsbad Village while summer is still in session!
July 22 to August 12 – Flicks at the Fountain brings community together each Thursday night through August 12 with outdoor movies starting at dusk. While you might have missed Toy Story and Ghostbusters, there’s still time to catch Frozen (August 5) and Star Wars: A New Hope (August 12). Great family fun for all ages.
August 4 – National Farmers’ Market Week will be celebrated at the State Street Farmers’ Market with its biggest market bounty giveaway yet. This is CVA’s way of saying thank you for honoring farmers’ markets in general and our very own market in particular. No purchase is necessary to be entered for a chance to be a winner.
August 14 to September 6 – Pop Up Art: A New Experience showcases artwork from 10 local artists in 20 different business locations in the Village. This temporary art activation between local artists and businesses is the second phase of a two-part project that is hosted by CVA and supported by the City of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office. Painting, photography, mixed media, and even chalk art will be introduced during this three-week program called “Spirit of America.”
August 24 – Village Voices returns for its first in-person business networking meeting since March 2020! Come get reacquainted with the amazing small business owners, managers, and staff that make downtown thrive, get “up-to-date” on Village issues and projects, and much more.
September 18 – 37th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day organized by I Love A Clean San Diego, will help bring attention to our coastline and adjacent Village. Since all gutters lead to the ocean, this year we are focusing our efforts on Carlsbad Village with three cleanup locations. Even though summer officially ends on September 22, CVA already has so much more in store for the fall including a blood drive on September 25 and Taste of Carlsbad Village on October 14, to name just two events.
