The power of community events
Most people think community events are just about entertainment. Without a doubt, they’re fun, but they also serve a deeper purpose. They build connections, foster a sense of belonging, and even boost local economies.
In addition to 52 farmers’ markets a year, which bring tens of thousands of people to the Village annually, the Carlsbad Village Association is proud to host and manage another 30 events annually. Every event is designed to meet CVA’s mission to promote and enhance the downtown business, cultural, and community vitality, making it a premier destination.
As a connection builder, Village Voices, held six times per year, brings together business owners, managers, staff, and Village residents for an hour and a half of networking, learning, and relationship building. Village Voices has been hosted by CVA for over a decade and has always been free of charge to anyone who works or lives in Carlsbad Village or is a Village enthusiast. With guest speakers ranging from our city’s Mayor or Chief of Police to marketing and retail experts, Village Voices is packed with information. But make no mistake, its most important benefit is the ability to connect people, business owners, residents, and volunteers, all with a passion for Carlsbad Village. Movers. Shakers. Builders. Entrepreneurs. That is what Village Voices is all about.
To foster a sense of belonging, the Carlsbad Village Association is proud to host Village Clean Ups with partners like Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, Pure Project, and Lily Field Realty, designed to bring people together for a shared purpose. Through its bi-monthly cleanups, volunteers have removed over 4,100lbs of trash from downtown streets, alleyways, and common spaces. And in the process, friendships have been made, and family ties have strengthened. Other events, like this month’s Yappy Hour, bring together dog-lovers who join up to share stories, brag about their fur kids, take photos, and plan future doggie play dates. It’s an event that leaves everyone with sore cheeks from so much smiling and a full heart.
Boosting the local economy through events is the gold standard for a Main Street program like the Carlsbad Village Association. Looking for quality programming? Join us for Art in the Village that brings 10,000 people to Carlsbad on a quest for fine art and other treasures. Or check out Taste of Carlsbad Village that brings 1,000 dedicated foodies to our eateries. We also have free community events like Halloween in the Village, Small Business Saturday, and the Musical Kickoff to the Holidays.
While here, it is only natural to fall in love with the retail shops, restaurants, and service-related businesses that call Carlsbad Village home. While the goal is to increase foot traffic, the true measure of success is to see and hear from satisfied attendees that Carlsbad is indeed a premier destination.
