I’m Catherine Magaña and am excited and privileged to be your Chairwoman of the Board for this year. I have been an active Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce member since 2012. I serve as a founding member, Managing Partner and Certified Financial Planner ™ at WWM Financial and Savvy Women Wealth Management, a SEC-registered Investment Adviser.
The Chamber has been an integral part of our business ever since we were incorporated in July of 2011. One of the first things our company did was to join the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. As time passed, I realized how important the Chamber really was as I served on serval committees including the Government Affairs Committee and the Ambassador Committee. I have also participated in NetForce1 for many years.
I learned a lot about the inner workings of the Carlsbad Chamber while serving on the Board of Directors and Executive Board of Directors. I have engaged with many members over the years and am grateful to have built many long-lasting relationships through the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce.
Last year, what I will call COVID 2020, was a year of pivoting and acting quickly to adapt to the needs of our community and local businesses. That’s exactly what Bret Schanzenbach and the Chamber staff have done. It was a year that definitely needed strong leadership. Tons of kudos go out to our former Chair, Matt Leonard, for doing an amazing job leading our Board of Directors and Executive board through a crazy year of change.
I want to thank our Board of Directors and Carlsbad Chamber members for your continued support of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce whose mission is to promote business through member services, economic and community development and public policy that balances economic prosperity with quality of life.
What I envision in 2021 for the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is a year of growing stronger and better together as a community, helping small businesses, creating a healthy business climate, and advocating for our local economy. In addition to spotlighting some of our local businesses, I would love to highlight some of our women members this year. More details to follow.
