Dear Friends of the Carlsbad Library & Arts Foundation:As we are getting ready to welcome a new year, the Board of Trustees of the Carlsbad Library & Arts Foundation (“CLAF”) would like to thank you for your continued support and dedication to the Carlsbad libraries and cultural arts.
The year 2020 will be remembered as a uniquely challenging year. It has not been life as usual for any of us. Throughout the year, the CLAF Board of Trustees continued to regularly meet on Zoom. From the reporting we received at each meeting, we were so impressed by the many creative ways, in conformance with the public health guidelines, the Carlsbad Library and Cultural Arts department continued to deliver library services, as well as arts programming, to our community despite the many challenges.
We are happy to inform you that this year, thanks to the generosity of our donors, CLAF distributed the total amount of $196,072 to directly benefit the programs, services and supplies offered by the Carlsbad Library & Cultural Arts department. This amount is the largest dollar amount to date that CLAF has distributed in any given year!
In addition to the foregoing distribution, one of the highlights of the year for us has been the Foundation’s sponsorship of “A Very Ukulele Holiday! with Jazzy Ash” program. Since this year we were not able to celebrate the Carlsbad libraries and arts at our annual Gala, we decided instead that we would bring the gift of music to the community through our sponsorship of this program developed by the Cultural Arts office.
Approximately 150 families in Carlsbad have received the free ukuleles and lesson plan kits. The free beginner ukulele lessons culminating with the holiday music performance are available to the entire community at A Very Ukulele Holiday with Jazzy Ash. We invite you to check it out.
